New Patient Information
Know What to Expect
At Summit Vein Care, we help new patients understand vein health symptoms before we recommend treatment. From your first call to insurance checks and follow-up care, we explain each step so you know what to expect.
Your First Step
Some patients start with a free quick scan. Others already know they want a full new patient appointment. If you are not sure which visit you need, contact us. Our team can ask a few questions, explain the difference, and help you choose the right place to start.
Free Quick Scan
A free quick scan is a short ultrasound visit that looks at the superficial vein system in your legs. It takes about 15 minutes, and insurance is not billed.
During this visit, you primarily meet with an ultrasound tech, not a provider. The scan checks for reflux, which means blood may be flowing the wrong way in your veins. You do not receive a diagnosis or treatment options during the quick scan.
If your screening is positive for reflux, we recommend a new-patient appointment. At that visit, you will receive a comprehensive ultrasound study and meet with a provider to discuss findings, treatment options, and timing. If your screening is negative, we will tell you that too.
If you have ever been diagnosed with or treated for vein disease, you do not need a quick scan. In that case, a new patient appointment is usually the right place to start.
New Patient Appointment
A new patient appointment gives us a more detailed look at your vein health. This visit will include a more comprehensive ultrasound study, a provider visit, and a discussion about your treatment options.
Depending on your history of varicose veins or related symptoms, you may choose to skip the quick scan and start with a new patient appointment. Either way, we use imaging, exam findings, and your symptoms to recommend the next step in your care.
Insurance & Cost
Summit Vein Care works with most major insurance carriers. Medically necessary varicose vein treatments may be covered, while cosmetic treatments are generally not covered.
Before your appointment day, our team checks your benefits and explains your expected cost. That way, you have time to ask questions, review your options, or reschedule if needed.
Forms & Policies
Prior to your appointment, please make sure to complete your digital check-in forms after we send them via email or text message.
After Your Visit
If treatment makes sense, we will explain the procedure, expected timing, insurance requirements, and your next steps. Vein treatment timelines will vary. Your plan may include follow-ups, pre-care guideline visits, procedures, or post-treatment checks.
